This next clay stage shows the whole horse is roughed out the ears are in wax at this stage for strength. Working from the inside out - the skeleton (steel armature) then build up from the lower layer of muscles to the next layer, finishing to the outer layer of skin. This gives the sculptor a much better understanding of the whole horse and his structure - More and more character are now being put into the sculpture.
